Are you using Instagram for business?

Wondering which Instagram account to use? Personal, creator, or business?

There are some important differences between these accounts, so here is the breakdown of the pros, cons, and features of each profile, so you can choose the right one for you.

The 3 types of Instagram accounts are organized into 2 categories: personal and professional.

  1. Personal Account

This account is geared towards personal use.

  • Have no analytics or API access, which means that you won’t be able to schedule posts, use the Facebook Creator Studio to manage Instagram, and you won’t have third-party access to analytics
  • Contact button can’t be used on your profile
  • Gift card/delivery stickers can’t be used
  • No swipe up feature in stories

If you’re a business owner or a marketer, the points above are big disadvantages, although they do have some benefits.

What are the benefits?

Personal accounts have all access to all of the music options in reels and stories.

The only account type that can be private. Professional accounts have to be public.

  2. Professional Accounts: Business & Creator

Instagram groups business and creator account together under the title of professional accounts, although they are 2 different account types.

A business account is intended for a business entity. Choose this if you’re a brand, selling a product/service. A non-profit organization can also choose this account type.

A creator account is intended for influencers to create content that might align with a brand, but may not actually be selling something.

The same features of Creator and Business accounts include:

  • Both have analytics and insights
  • Both have access to contact buttons
  • Gift card delivery stickers are available
  • Collaboration with other accounts are allowed to leverage the branded content features

In conclusion, if you need the scheduling feature, create a business account. If you need all the music, create a creator account.
